Project Reveal: Fox Point Charmer | Milwaukee Interior Design
When our clients purchased this Fox Point colonial last fall, the house, though largely unfurnished, was in great shape. It simply needed to feel like their home.
For our Milwaukee interior design team, the goal wasn’t to reinvent the architecture or make everything feel brand new. Instead, we wanted to introduce color, pattern and furnishings that gave the rooms personality while still respecting the traditional bones of the house.
A Welcoming First Impression
The entryway starts things off with a deep blue-green front door, a gallery wall climbing the staircase, and a mix of vintage-feeling accessories that make the space feel welcoming rather than overly formal.
A Music Library Made for Lingering
One of our favorite rooms is the slate-blue library, which was designed around one very specific client request: a place to sit and listen to his extensive vinyl collection. The built-ins give his record, books, and collected mementos a home, while a comfortable sofa and striped ottomans make it a room he can actually spend time in. Tucked behind the louvered doors is a smaller bar, making the room just as good for an evening drink as it is for putting on a record and settling in.
In the living room, we kept things comfortable and classic. The fireplace acts as the anchor, with that same blue-green in the mantel, that brings color into an otherwise quiet palette. Leather chairs, a generous sofa, a vintage-inspired rug, and a substantial wood coffee table give the room plenty of places to sit. The large windows and garden views do a lot of the work, so the furnishings were chosen to complement rather than compete with them.
Bedrooms With Personality
The bedrooms allowed us to have a little more fun with color and pattern. A soft green bedroom gets a patterned wallpaper ceiling and tailored window treatments, while warm wood and woven pieces keep it from feeling too sweet. In another bedroom, olive green walls are paired with crisp white bedding and rust-colored accents for a moodier, more masculine feel.
A Home That Feels Collected
The most successful interiors are necessarily the ones where everything looks brand new. They are the ones where old and new, refined and relaxed can coexist.
For this Fox Point home, we wanted every room to feel comfortable enough for real life while still having a distinct personality. Vintage-inspired casegoods, traditional details, textural fabrics, collected accessories, and a thoughtful mix of color give the space a sense of history, even though the home was furnished from scratch.
The finished home feels comfortable and distinctly personal. It still reads as a Fox Point classic colonial, but now has the things that make a house feel like the people who live there: a record collection worth building a room around, a fireplace that gets used, reminders of the places they’ve traveled and the memories they’ve made along the way, and plenty of comfortable places to sit.
