Coastal Colonial

Set just off of Lake Drive in Shorewood, this historic Colonial was thoughtfully reimagined to honor its original charm while introducing our client’s personality. Throughout the home, we embraced the beautiful architectural details that make older homes so special—from the original wood floors and detailed moldings to the timeless character that has been lovingly preserved.

The transformation begins in the entry, where bold blue walls create an unforgettable first impression. Schumacher wallpaper, Anne Sacks tile, updated lighting, and carefully selected furnishings work together to create a welcoming space that feels both classic and unexpected.

In the family room, we designed a comfortable yet elevated gathering space centered around custom built-ins, layered furnishings, tailored window treatments, and thoughtfully selected lighting. Every element was chosen to create a room that feels warm, functional, and ready for everyday family life.

One of our favorite spaces is the nursery, designed for the family's sweet daughter. Pattern play, custom window treatments, a hand-knotted rug, and thoughtfully curated furnishings create a room that feels playful, timeless, and full of charm—a space that will easily transition with her as she grows up.

The staircase and upper landing became an opportunity to celebrate the family's story through a collected gallery wall, layered artwork, custom stair runner, and carefully selected furnishings. These transitional spaces now feel intentional and inviting, serving as both a visual focal point and a connection between floors.

Throughout the project, our goal was to create a home that felt fresh and personal while honoring the history and craftsmanship that make Shorewood's historic homes so beloved. The result is a layered, welcoming home that beautifully balances tradition, character, and modern family living.
